Gospel Jazz Fundraiser for The District School
Join us at Pennsylvania Avenue Baptist Church for a night of fellowship, great music, and good vibes with proceeds benefitting The District School, a new, vibrant school that seeks to provide an excellent education to families of all ethnicities and income levels.

A Tribute to Miles Davis
With the Straight No Chaser Band
Straight No Chaser is back!
Join the jazz sextet for a night of music from the great Miles Davis. Straight No Chaser is led by S.I.M. Agency owner/performer and Producer Cecil Isaac, a veteran musician of 25 years who has shared the stage with musical giants Dizzy Gillespie, Clark Terry and Spyro Gyra and is also founding member of Spoken in music(Jazz Fusion, Neo Soul and R&B, Vocal). Cecil is joined by Rob Spackey (saxophones) who studied under jazz great Dave Liebman, a veteran of the Miles Davis Band, and Glenn Hoburg (guitars), who led the bands Homegoing and Soul Suit, both of which have performed with Grammy-winning artist Mike Farris.

Mike Farris will do an acoustic set which allows his incredible voice to be singularly appreciated. Cecil Isaac, Glenn Hoburg, and Rob Spackey of the Cecil Isaac Straight No Chaser band with Percy White on bass will open!
Farris was recognized by Americana Music Awards as Emerging Artist of the year in 2008, by the GMA Dove Awards for the best Traditional Gospel Album of the Year in 2010 and by the Grammys for Best Roots Gospel Album of the year in 2015.

We had such an amzaing turn out for the Russell House Show in February that we decided to do it again! Many of you couldn't make it last time, so now is your opportunity to come. We are doing it bigger and better this time.
We have Seaux Chill returning. He is one of the hottest young hip-hop/jazz artist in Tennessee. Seaux Chill blends hip hop, jazz, and gospel music in a way that's new and fresh. Think Chance the Rapper meets Thelonius Monk. We also have Cecil Isaac's 8 piece band, "Spoken In Music". Michelle Higgins will be singing. Katrina, a talented vocalists from Los Angeles, California will be singing. And finally, yours truly (Andrew Russell) will be singing. We will be performing covers from artist such as Amy Winehouse, Nina Simone, Emily King, John Legend, and Kirk Franklin. We will also perform original music from Seaux Chill, Andrew Russell, and Spoken in Music.
We are pulling all the stops out for this show. The purpose of this show is to give people an idea of what a House Show can look like in your own home. Cecil and I would love to continue to do live house shows not only in DC, but throughout the DMV to bring people together.
The event cost $25 per person to offset the cost for the venue and band. You can pay online at the following website: https://www.spokeninmusic.com. You will also have the opportunity to pay at the door. Also, bring some drinks and snacks to share.
